On Tuesday afternoon, 28th February 2023, I was honoured to share the stage with the truly wonderful Jill Mumford. We were invited by the Dorset Heritage Trust to give their annual Alan Wilson Memorial Lecture. Well in truth, Jill was invited to speak and I was asked to tag along and explain why Jill had very generously donated all of the proceeds from her book ‘Those were the days’ about her time as Head Teacher at Hampreston School to The Emily Collins School in Uganda.
Jill was her normal effervescent self and regaled the audience with humorous and nostalgic stories from her life and the book. She was so engaging that when she handed over to me the audience were interested to hear more. All I can say to Jill, Sarah, Kim and Kerry from the DHT and the wonderful audience is thank you for the opportunity to share the story of the Emily Collins School, your warm welcome, interest and generosity.
