When we started this project in late 2019 we never expected to have got this far so soon but the generosity of our donors, sponsors and partners has exceeded our expectations. So much so, that we are where we are today:

  1. The ground was cleared within months, by hand, by the community!
  2. The foundations and fabric of the building were built mostly without machinery.
  3. The ground floor was sufficiently complete that we could open the doors to 85 vulnerable children in January 2022.
  4. Of those 85, only 4 had sponsors, now we have 13.
  5. Building progress has continued throughout 2022 with more plastering, electrical installation, water brought to the premises (albeit via a very infrequent supply)
  6. All schools in Uganda were closed in early December 2022 by the government in an attempt to slow the spread of Ebola, but this has given us the opportunity to start building the first floor!

As you can see from the feature photo we have a long way to go but Martin Duhimbaze, the founder of OFHM dreams big dreams, puts his faith in God and strives 24/7/365 to achieve them with the help and support of his team and sponsors. So thank you for everything you’ve done in 2022 and we look forward to working with you all again in 2023.

Please remember, there are no head office overheads, no intermediaries, no agencies taking a cut – every penny you give us goes towards building and operating the Emily Collins School, Kisoro.
